Day 1 ------- Arrive & Drive to Turrialba (Sitio de Mata)

Today we will meet you at the airport and drive to Sitio de Mata. Here you can be reunited with all your old friends and enjoy the peace and comfort of your home away from home. You will notice when you arrive to the village that it is still a place full of great people and amazing views of the Turrialba Volcano. (Meals: Dinner)

Day 2 ------- Community Service (Sitio de Mata)

We'll start our community service project today. It will be a project geared towards helping the village live more sustainably while learning more about sustainability ourselves. Some interesting ideas we have are constructing hot-water batches that would allow each home to have hot-water without the use of electricity. Also developing an organic soap-making project in order to keep the rivers cleaner. We have more ideas and can decide later on as the trip gets closer and we are always open to ideas from your end. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 3 ------- Community Service (Sitio de Mata)

Today is a full day of community service work. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 4 ------- Community Service (Sitio de Mata)

Day 6 ------- Raft Pacuare (Sitio de Mata)

Today we will do the one day Pacuare Rafting Adventure. We will be back in the village by 3pm, in time to enjoy the farewell festivities! (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 7 ------ Travel to Waterfall Land (Sleep Behind Waterfall)

Today we will get an early start and leave the homestays around 7am. We'll drive to the Southern Pacific, going over Costa Rica's tallest mountain range. This is a beautiful drive.  There's a spot where you can even see both coasts. On the way, we'll stop at a very unique area of the tropics called the Paramo which is the area just below the snow-line at higher elevations of around 10,000ft. After the Paramo we will drop down to lower elevations near Dominical on the Pacific side. Here is where we will begin a 1 1/2 hour hike to one of the most unique places you will ever visit in your life. During our hike we'll visit an organic garden, (where most of the ingredients for the delicious meals you'll be having are grown) and then make our way to three beautiful waterfalls. It is here where you will be sleeping for the next two nights.

Sleeping Behind Waterfall
The evening activities will be a camp fire behind the waterfalls and some good guitar music along with some marshmallows! (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 8 ------- Rappel & Hike to Pools (Sleep Behind Waterfall)

This is a full day of fun and adventure. We will start the morning by enjoying breakfast behind the falls and then make the short hike to the top pools. These are majestic pools that make you feel like you are in a lost world of waterfalls. One of the falls is 15 ft and the kids love jumping off it into the pools below. After we hike back down from the pools we'll have lunch and get refuelled for the rappeling.  This is where the adrenaline gets pumping as we ask you to walk off the edge of a 120ft waterfall. It's an amazing adventure that the kids love, doing wonders for self-esteem and confidence.

After the adventures we'll have a snack and then get ready for the most scenic part of the trip. Just a 15 minute hike away, is the top of the Diamante Waterfalls, Costa Rica's tallest waterfall at 600ft. From here we'll have breath-taking views of the Pacific Ocean and watch the sun set over the horizon. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Rappeling 120ft Waterfall
Day 9 ------- Travel to San Jose & Visit Orphanage (La Condesa)

Today after breakfast we will hike out of the cavern. We will make the drive back to San Jose where we will stay close to the airport for your next day departure. We'll stop at an orphanage that we have a very close relationship with. It is an all-girls home and they range in age from 13 - 17 which makes it a great opportunity to interact with kids their age. The girls are from various unfortunate situations, such as cases of sexual abuse, both parents in jail, both parents deceased, or having been sold as child prostitutes. It's an amazing place and the people there have done wonders to give these girls a new opportunity. Our company takes the girls on adventures three times a year as a chance to get them out into the natural world. We also try to stop by with groups if possible and offer clothes or just company for an afternoon.

Day 10 ----- Fly Home!

Today, the Davidson kids go back home, taking with them amazing memories of Costa Rica, its people, its vistas and culture. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)
